JESUS IS MY VALENTINE

God is Love
god is love

Tomorrow is valentines day.

Last night, I came from my weekly ladies Bible study, at Nations Church. On the way back the Lord showed me that I have been a Christian my entire life. I have always been trying to please the lord; to walk a straight line. Yet still, in the car on the way back, I questioned myself. I am worried that the Lord may say to me “I never knew you,” just as he did in Matthew 7:23?

I recall that I have questioned myself, my works, & my relationship with the Lord the hardest, when I was in the middle of certain times in my life. For example when I moved away from the Lord, the church, and its teaching, and was more in the world. In those moments, I would question whether I was in Gods’ will, and whether I would be one of the chosen, when the Lord comes to take us home. I was relieved when the Lord showed me that he doesn’t need me to work for him. Instead, He wants me to be in love with Him—in love with Jesus Christ our Lord &
Savior. He wants us to be continually falling in love with Him.

So I want all men and women, young and old, single, widowed, married—everyone—to fall in love with the Lord, just as they would with their most important Valentines’ partner. As we approach Valentine’s day, everyone is buying gifts, and flowers, and talking excitedly. We can’t wait to be with our partners; can’t wait to see their faces. That is the way to be with the Lord. As we enter Valentines day, the Lord is also saying: come be with me.

Ultimately falling in love with the Lord is freedom. It is the only way to please Him; to be in the best relationship with Him. Just as how we enjoy being with our partner on Valentines day, we will enjoy being with the Lord every day of our lives. We will be far happier, than if we try to be ‘good Christians,’ with a mindset of angst, and obligation. When you are constantly falling in love with someone, you want to be with them, and you want to please them.

As the Lord said in Deuteronomy 6:5: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”
